چکیده

Abstract Background Fluid overload is related to the development and prognosis of cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury (CSA-AKI). The study investigate influence serum creatinine (SCr) corrected by fluid balance on patients with surgery. Methods A retrospective was conducted in 1334 who underwent elective surgery from January 1 December 31, 2015. Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) criteria for AKI were applied identify CSA-AKI. SCr measured every 24 h during ICU period accordingly adjusted cumulative balance. Changes SCr, defined as ?Crea, determined difference between before after adjustment All then divided into three groups: underestimation group (?Crea ? P 75 ), normal (P 25 < ?Crea ) overestimation ? ). Results incidence increased 29.5% 31.8% Patients showed prolonged length stay compared (3.2 [1.0–4.0] vs 2.1 [1.0–3.0] d, 0.001; 3.2 2.3 0.001). Length hospital mechanical ventilation dependent days significantly longer than ( Multivariate analysis age, baseline left ventricular ejection fraction independently associated creatinine. Conclusions Cumulative disturbs accurate measurement poor prognosis.

Early administration of levosimendan is associated with improved kidney function after cardiac surgery – a retrospective analysis

BACKGROUND Several animal studies suggest beneficial effects on kidney function upon administration of levosimendan. As recent data from clinical studies are heterogeneous, we sought to investigate whether levosimendan is associated with improved postoperative kidney function in cardiac surgery patients with respect to timing of its administration. METHODS Retrospective, single centre, observ...

Increased creatinine clearance in polytrauma patients with normal serum creatinine: a retrospective observational study

INTRODUCTION The aim of this study, performed in an intensive care unit (ICU) population with a normal serum creatinine, was to estimate urinary creatinine clearance (CLCR) in a population of polytrauma patients (PT) through a comparison with a population of non trauma patients (NPT). METHODS This was a retrospective, observational study in a medical and surgical ICU in a university hospital....

Mild volume acute normovolemic hemodilution is associated with lower intraoperative transfusion and postoperative pulmonary infection in patients undergoing cardiac surgery -- a retrospective, propensity matching study

BACKGROUND Perioperative allogenic transfusion is required in almost 50% of patients undergoing cardiac surgery and is associated with higher risk of mortality and morbidity (Xue et al., Lancet 387:1905, 2016; Ferraris et al., Ann Thorac Surg 91:944-82, 2011). Acute normovolemic hemodilution (ANH) is recommended as a potential strategy during cardiac surgery, but the blood conservation effect a...

Creatinine clearance versus serum creatinine as a risk factor in cardiac surgery

BACKGROUND Renal impairment is one of the predictors of mortality in cardiac surgery. Usually a binarized value of serum creatinine is used to assess the renal function in risk models. Creatinine clearance can be easily estimated by the Cockcroft and Gault equation from serum creatinine, gender, age and body weight. In this work we examine whether this estimation of the glomerular filtration ra...
